for everyone
We finally had some nice warm weather this weekend and got out and cut back my Euonymus garden and pressure washed the white retaining wall blocks.

This was something I added a few years back using extra retaining wall blocks I had left over from around the garage. I had put few small round flower garden walls up and decided to just make one large one. As I recall there were about 300 blocks used and is about 21' round.

As I was building it I was inspired by a smaller hedge garden at the NC Govenors Mansion which I walk by often on my lunch breaks. It has a round hedge surrounding a fountain.
I decided to go with an "Golden" Euonymus shrubs that would grow into a solid hedge 6 to 8 feet tall and flank the outside of it with a "blondie" Euonymus shrub that grows more outward like a vein. In just a matter of a few years its really taken off. this weekend I cut it back some, cleaned up and repainted my bird bath and took a few pictures.

Also in this mix are some pictures of my Elvis Weeping Willows. During Elvis Week 2005 at the Insiders convention, we had bought 2 saplings from Elvis' Weeping Willow that you see at the front over to the right by the wall by a company The Historic Tree Nursery. The sell saplings of trees from Presidents, famous people and of course the King! They are currently still selling 3 Elvis Tree saplings which you can see by clicking on http://www.historictrees.org/elvis.htm

When we first go the saplings we put them in planters a the end of our front walkway. They did ok but never really took off until we planted them out in the yard a couple years ago. These trees have went from small single twigs to the blossoming trees you see in these pictures.

My Euonymus garden. You can see where I had stopped pressure washing over on the left. I finished later today after the chat.

To show the contrast thought I would post this early picture of my Euonymus Creation just after everything was planted. This was taken May 11, 2005

Nice job on the hedge Jason! I was a landscaper for 8 years and I loved working outdoors on the gardens; especially formal hedges and rose gardens. You have a nice blend of colors and heights on the shrubs too. I give you an A+!

It looks like Cheryl has a nice garden. Is she growing vegetables?

The garden shed really came out nice. This is the first time I've seen it since you finished it.

The Golden and Blondie Eyonymus do have a flowering color when they are growing. since I've cut them back they are all green! LOL The blondie looks cool draped over the walls but needed to cut back to pressure wash the blocks. Liana, I've posted a ton of pics of the old shed...from topless to complete. Just check around my site here at http://www.JasonEdge.com

thanks for the complements. I too love working outdoors! As you see my grass is in awful shape...we've let it go and is a weed field now. We are looking at going with low maintenance centipede instead of the very high maintenance Kentucky bluegrass Fescue that everyone plants around here!
