| jasonedge wrote on Apr 29, '10, edited on Apr 29, '10 Thanks guys. It's definitely a life long journey acquiring all of this Elvis Stuff. I've still got 45's I had when I was a toddler and of course stuff from every period of my life so far. A lot of the stuff isn't easy to show. For example I have notebooks full of newspaper, magazine and other clippings full of "Elvis News". I know I started putting in a 3 ring notebook a while back and filled up a big 5" notebook in no time and went back to just putting it away in folders and boxes. I would love to just be retired and go through EVERYTHING and organize like I like. It's funny too how specific pieces of my collection reminds me of periods of my life.
The Baby Lets Play House 78 reminds me of San Antonio since that's where we found that record in 2001, the TV Guides remind me of our trip to memphis in 1997 when I wiped out the local Piggly Wiggly of ALL their TV Guides with Elvis on those 4 covers, 45's and certain albums remind me of the 70's and all those trips on Saturday to the local Record Bar to buy another Elvis Record, The Elvis Bust reminds me of Orlando area when my mom lived for a while and we found it at a large market, the Elvis Nascar stuff reminds me of my dad since he was a big fan of racing, the Forest L Bobo letters I've sent out to everyone always reminds me of Tupelo Hardware where my mom first bought a copy of the letter. The EI logo of course reminds me of all those great club get together's in Memphis. We've got pictures of London and Paris all over our house and garage from our 2006 UK trip and that of course reminds me of great times like the Leeds Castle camera war with Michael, and spending time with the club members as they showed us around their great country. My Bubba Ho Tep shirt and pictures and posters now reminds me of the Eiffel Tower since I took that crazy picture beneath it in 2006. I could go on and on but I definitely relate many of my Elvis items to specific times in my life. Of course for 7+ years being a fan was largely influenced by the club but from probably age 2 or 3 to almost 38 years old I was a fan club of one!...which I'm back to being again LOL. |
| fantastic! I could live in that room. I'll leave that bloke Tony behind??!!,,LOL |
