Jason's Elvis Office Room
Here's a bit of history of the garage and my Elvis Office room:

Our 1912 Queen Ann home didn't have a garage when we bought it in 1995 so around summer 1999 we had a 3 bay garage built. When it was built it was a standard 32' x 28' three-bay, with inside steps leading to a floored upstairs. It was floored upstairs but had no knee-walls, ceiling or anything. Not too long after the garage went up, I built external steps leading up to a deck, that leads into the upstairs office room freeing up that much space upstairs and downstairs.

I then installed another layer of flooring, put up kneewalls, a ceiling, wired everything, and flanked everything with a 1/2" layer of plywood. With the kneewalls it left me with a 20' x 32' room....still a considerable size room! I decided I wanted a double layer, raised desk area....kinda like my control center and built the framing and flooring for it.

In time I threw some pink and lavender paint on the plywood walls and started hanging my elvis stuff up and before I knew it had it flanked with Elvis Stuff from end to end. It got to the point I didn't know how or if I would ever be able to finish the ceilings and walls with so much stuff up and the fact I'm in there every day running my business and hanging with you guys.

In Aug 2007 while in Memphis for the 30th, I seized the opportunity and had moved everything out before leaving for our trip, and had a drywall contractor come in and hang and finish the walls. When I returned I decided to go with a gold and silver metallic paint on the walls and ceiling, and to do the floors with laminate light grey and dark gray marble panels.

Since getting the flooring done I've got the shelves back up and most things are still just thrown up on the shelves and not displayed like I want them. Kind of a mish-mash if you know what I mean.

I hope to get the room completely finished in terms of displaying things like I like in the near future but thought I would show you guys some pictures of my Elvis Office room and how it came about.

Be sure and click on the pictures to enlarge..

Your Elvis Office Room is fabulous! Elvis would be proud!

You have many TV Guide posters and other memorabilia that I have in my attic. I keep wanting to get in there and reorganize it. You have given me the incentive Jason!

Your Elvis room is incomparable! It reflects all of your hard work and ongoing effort, and labor of love, over the years!

Loving You,
Cathy

I DON'T HAVE WORDS TO DESCRIBE YOUR ELVIS ROOM...PLACE! I HOPE I'LL BE ABLE TO HAVE ONE LIKE THIS SOMEDAY WITH ALL THE ITEMS I HAVE IN MY COLLECTION AND THE ONES I'LL GET THROUGH THE YEARS. BUT BUILDING A HOUSE JUST FOR HIM SHOWS ONCE AGAIN HOW OFF-LIMIT IS YOUR DEDICATION TO "OUR MAN"!
JASON, YOU AND YOUR CHERYL ARE GREAT!

Oh Jason, I meant to ask you too...the sign that says "Welcome home Mr. President and First Lady"...what is that? I saw that on one of your other posts and meant to ask.

Thanks,
Leslie

Leslie,
That was mom being her crazy self. We had been to Memphis for Elvis Week 2004 and mom had that on our door waiting for us when we returned.

Now that I am home I took a slower look at your Elvis room, it is so amazing.

In picture 24, you show a flag on the wall with Elvis on it - I bought that same flag in New Orleans when we were there for the cruise this year!

Also in picture 56, you have what looks like an Elvis with angel wings - that is very unusual, I have not seen that before.

How much do you charge for admission to the Elvis-eum?

:)

Charge to come to the inner sanctum of Graceland East????

Jason, I don't think anyone could ever compete with that "Room". It must be really fun to sit there among all those treasures.
What amazes me is that you have multiples of a lot of stuff. Look at those stuffed bears! And no wonder you needed that "Display Rack"
for the DVD's. The room is truly a work of love and ELVIS WOULD BE VERY VERY PROUD AND HAPPY. TLC Pam
